Dennis completed his Bachelor in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Calgary. His first experience with iGEM was as a team member of the 2014 University of Calgary Team.

Dennis has mentored several High School and Junior High iGEM teams including Ted Harrison School, Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Academy and Central Memorial High School. He has a strong interest in introducing synthetic biology knowledge and skills to students and integrating them into pre-existing educational curricula.

"Part of the reason I joined the geekStarter program was to spread awareness of synthetic biology among students within Alberta. I enjoy teaching students synthetic biology concepts they may not be exposed to otherwise and helping expand their biology education. The geekStarter program offers students opportunities to leverage their curiosity and independent thinking into cutting-edge projects, and I wanted to be a part of that."
